AN IRISH DONKEY: The origin at this sturdy animal is found in the Sahara area of Africa from where it was brought to Ireland more than 700 years ago. To-day tho donkey still plays his part on many of the smaller farms in the country, taking milk to the creamory and drawing turf from the bog and even in some cases providing a means at transport for the farmer on market day. Heutzutage spielt der Esel noch immer seine Rolle auf vielen kleinen Bauernhöfen des Landes, bringt Milch zur Molkerei und zieht Torf aus dem Moor und in einigen Fällen auch
Transportmittel für den Landwirt am Markttag. Es gibt etwa 75.000 Esel in Irland.
